A local cycling shop had purchased several boxes of cycling jackets, and had unpacked them all, having put them onto hangers in the back of the shop. Sadly in the night an adjoining shop caught fire causing heavy smoke damage to all the jackets, and so they were brought to Carlton Cleaners to see if they could be saved. It was not just a case of cleaning them, as they also had to be treated to remove the smell of the smoke, and then had to be reproofed to put back their water repelling properties.
This whole process required cleaning the garments in different solutions twice, then spraying with water repellent chemicals. It was hard work but every single garment was saved to ride another day.
